IDF News - New Atom Processor for Cars, Internet...

Today, Intel launched the Intel® Atom™ processor E600 series. Formerly codenamed “Tunnel Creek,” this Atom processor-based SoC integrates additional capabilities onto the chip and features an open interconnect for added flexibility. The SoC’s flexibility will make it easier to design and customize design possibilities and is ideal for applications such as in-car infotainment systems, internet phones and smart grid devices. Intel also disclosed “Stellarton,” a new configurable Intel Atom E600-based processor paired with an Altera FPGA in a multi-chip package, which provides additional flexibility for developers who want to incorporate proprietary I/O or acceleration.
