NVIDIA Appoints Nobel Laureate Dr. Steven Chu to...

 
SANTA CLARA, CA—JULY 6, 2004—NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) today announced the appointment of Dr. Steven Chu to its Board of Directors.

Dr. Chu has served as a Professor in the Physics and Applied Physics Departments at Stanford University, where he has been on the faculty since 1987. On August 1, 2004, Dr. Chu will become the Director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, a research laboratory of the Department of Energy managed by the University of California. In 1997, Dr. Chu, with two colleagues at NIST and College de France, was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics for development of methods to cool and trap atoms with laser light. From 1978 to 1987, Dr. Chu worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories in New Jersey. From 1983 to 1987, he served as the head of the Quantum Electronics Research Department within the Electronics Research Laboratory of AT&T Bell Labs.
