SUNNYVALE, CALIF -- March 11, 2004 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) today donated 12 high-performance servers running 24 AMD Opteron™ processors to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The servers will be part of a cluster that will provide an experimental platform for projects conducted by faculty members across the departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering and explore the cost-effectiveness of leveraging computational resources across disciplines.
